In addition to these frequently asked questions, check out my policies and deets about prepping your hair for your appointment for the very best service.

WHAT ARE the COVID-19 SAFETY MEASURES?

Masks are optional but I will always wear on request. I am so grateful to the MN State Board of Cosmetology and Sola Salons. They have created an in-depth sanitation and policy plan to keep to keep us all safe and healthy while we are in close quarters getting beautified. This includes additional sanitization of the room and surfaces between each client.

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

I am located in the Uptown Sola Salon suites.

WHAT ARE YOUR HOURS?

My hours vary weekly Monday - Friday. I do not take appointments on Saturdays or Sundays.

My services are by appointment only. The perks of being self-employed!  Sign up for the In Full Bloom Salon mailing list to receive announcements about last minute openings.

HOW DO I BOOK AN APPOINTMENT?

Online booking is available to schedule appointments :

infullbloomsalon.glossgenius.com

If you are unable to request a service, it is because there is not time enough available for the service you have requested within the upcoming month. Text 612 263 0379 with “waitlist” and I will contact you when I am able to get you in. You will receive automatic confirmation when your appointment is accepted. Please note that credit card information is required to hold all appointments per my cancellation policy.

HOW DO I ARRIVE FOR MY APPOINTMENT?

See Prep My Hair. For all cut and color services, please arrive with your hair freshly washed, detangled, dry with clarified hair in a simple wash and go style. Please avoid: Braids, buns, twist or braid outs, headbands, ponytails, updo styles, or any “stretched” style that will alter your visible curl pattern. YouTube is a great resource for beginner “wash-and-go” tutorials. If you still have concerns on how to wear your hair curly and/or need help with detangling or undoing braids, please contact me prior to your appointment so I can help you prepare.

*The exception to this is First Time Client Bounce Back and Return Client Bounce Back services, just make sure hair is clean and detangled.

Why do I need to prep my hair?

When cutting or coloring hair naturally, it is very important that I can see how your hair truly lives. Braids, buns, twist or braid outs, headbands, ponytails, updo styles, or any “stretched” style that will alter your curl pattern will prevent me from giving you an accurate cut or from coloring highlights to bring out your natural texture. This method prevents huge surprises when the hair is washed and allows me to adjust for varying curl patterns on one head. Don’t worry! I don’t expect you to come with your hair styled how I will send you out, which will indeed be luxurious. But making sure that your hair is detangled, freshly washed and dry in a wash and go, will help me to give you my best.

I USE LOTS OF OILS AND BUTTERS IN MY HAIR. HOW CAN I BEST PREPARE MY HAIR FOR MY APPOINTMENT?

I recommend that you begin detoxing your hair at least 2 weeks before your appointment day if you are using any products with super heavy oils, butters, or silicones in them. Detoxing will help you achieve the best results for your dry cut. Visit my Prepping Your Hair section for more details on detoxing your hair.

WHat products do you use?

I use Innersense Organic Beauty and Olaplex for cleansing and conditioning, styling and treatments. I use Wella Pravana, and Pulp Riot for color.

WHERE CAN I VIEW YOUR WORK?

WHAT SERVICE DO YOU RECOMMEND FOR FIRST TIME CLIENTS?

First time clients can book one of two appointments, either a First Time Client Curly Cut or a First Time Client Bounce Back Treatment. I book out extra time to get to know my new clients and to do an in depth analysis of their hair. Color services are not available for first time clients to ensure health of hair prior to moving forward as well as a solid understand of our vision. The Curly Cut is a dry cut that includes the Bounce Back Treatment which is a curl transformation with any treatments needed for hair health included in the price. *First Time Client appointments won’t always be visible as I give first dibs monthly to my active clients. Don’t see these options? Try again in a couple days or shoot me an email.

DO YOU OFFER CONSULTATIONS?

Consultations are an essential step at the beginning of each scheduled service. I do not offer separate in person consultations. Color services are for return clients only to ensure accurate timing, pricing, and health of the hair. In person consultations for color can be done during your first visit. If you have special concerns prior to booking, please use the contact page or text the number for the salon. As I am a one woman business and mother of small children there may sometimes be a delay, but I will always make sure to touch base back with clients that have questions asap.

WHAT IS PINTURA HIGHLIGHTING?

DevaCurl® signature Pintura highlighting technique involves sweeping on color or lightener (or both) to your individual curls to give you personalized dimension in your hair based on your unique texture. The quote for your color service will be determined at your consultation based on the time, process, and amount of color needed.

WHY DO YOU CUT CURLS DRY?

The nature of curls is that they bounce and stretch. When  wet, or when combed, straightened curls, or otherwise altered, it is difficult to know where the curl will actually live in real life. I cut without using tension to let each curl express itself naturally. By leaving the curl dry I can see the natural silhouette and visual length of the haircut as we shape it, and so can you.

DO YOU DO ANY OTHER STYLES BESIDES A NATURAL WASH AND GO?

In Full Bloom is natural hair specialty salon. I do not perform any chemical texture processes (relaxers, perms, keratin treatments, etc). I do not currently take straight haired clients due to at this point my lack of recent experience cutting and styling straight hair. I am not a braider and I don’t work with hair additions. I do have many very talented stylist friends that offer additional services that I am happy to recommend current clients to.

I WEAR MY HAIR STRAIGHT SOMETIMES. IS A CURLY CUT FOR ME?

As curly hair specialist and fellow curly, I advise my clients to commit to heat free hair. I personally don’t believe that flat irons are worth the potential risk of heat damage. Heat styling compromises the health of your hair by over manipulating your curls, and in extreme cases literally burning them. If you wear your hair curly most of the time, a dry curly cut will amplify your natural texture. Some clients may find differences in length due to varying shrinkage and curl patterns on their head.  Most of our clients that occasionally stretch their curls feel their Curly Cuts translate for straightened styles that have additional simulated texture (i.e. a blowout rather than bone straight), however keep in mind that the Curly Cut is designed for your natural texture. If you wear your hair straight the majority of the time, a Bounce Back Treatment service rather than a Curly Cut may be a great place to start to get an idea of what your hair might be able to do curly.

ARE YOUR PRICES THE SAME FOR SHORT HAIR/LONG HAIR OR A TRIM?

Yes, the prices are the same no matter the hair length or how much is being taken off.

I TRIED TO BOOK AN APPOINTMENT SENDING A DIRECT MESSAGE (DM) ON INSTAGRAM, BUT I DID NOT GET A RESPONSE?

I do not regularly check my DMs. ALL appointment bookings are handled through the online booking system Gloss Genius or by phone during business hours in between clients. All other business inquiries are handled through email via our contact page or you may always text the salon with questions. Thank you for your understanding.

I Can’t find any appointment availability for the rest of the year. is something wrong?

I open up my books on the first of each month for the following month. (i.e. January 1st, February books become available etc.)

Pre-booking is recommended. The online booking scheduler allows booking depending on how long the service will be, or it may be that the appointment time requested has been filled and is no longer available. Gloss Genius will suggest the next available appointment.

If you are a prospective client looking to be notified of availability, please join my mailing list for monthly reminders or email me directly to be added to my cancellation list. Active clients will receive an email and text reminder automatically when books open monthly. I will reach out first to clients that have future appointments booked with the exception of clients who live out of town and will only be in the cities for particular dates. Looking for an appointment? Book asap on the 1st of the month as books fill up fast.

I THOUGHT I BOOKED AN APPOINTMENT ONLINE, BUT I DID NOT RECEIVE A CONFIRMATION TEXT OR EMAIL?

If you DO NOT receive a confirmation, there is NO APPOINTMENT booked for you. Please complete the booking online and email if you are having issues.

I STILL HAVE QUESTIONS, HOW DO I REACH YOU?

The best way to reach me is via text on 612 263 0379 the number for the salon. During business hours, I will sporadically check for messages between clients and during my long weekend, I usually will check messages more on Monday and Tuesday in order to spend time with my family. I will get back to you as quickly as possible.
